First Day

Everybody is welcome here at Chicago Corruption. This blog was created to be an open forum for discussion, venting, complaining, suggestions for change, and also to promote myself for candidate for alderman in the next election. I will start with a little bit about myself. I am currently employed by the city as a paramedic. I live in Mt. Greenwood which is in the 19th ward. I am a republican, but don't hold that against me. I am also finishing my bachelors degree in Political Science at UIC. I am a former US Marine, oorah! I have a wife and three kids and am one fed up taxpayer just like you! My philosophy is one of common sense. I have been accused of being brutally honest which I take as a compliment. I have never been afraid to stand up for what I believe or to defend those that share my view. My goal here would be to start a grassroots campaign to get like minded people involved in making changes. Aren't you tired of having to pay for everybody else? Me too! Aren't you tired of Hizzonor taxing and spending you to death? Not to mention all the new fines and fees! Chicago is the most expensive city in the nation, but not the biggest nor most populated. We have commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant deputy commissioners, etc, etc, all for one office!?! No other city operates in this grandiose way. Daley and his buddy Toddler Stroger create positions and contracts out of thin air to appease contributors, family members, friends, and the wealthy while the working middle class pay for it all-they laugh all the way to the bank! Now, they want to cut services, such as snow removal and free garbage pickup, and they want to meter your water! I say NO MORE! Daley has gotten fat off the taxpayers teet and has now begun selling off money making assets for one time cash cows, not to mention the unchecked creation of TIF's for his own personal piggy bank. ENOUGH! I am finding it harder and harder to live in this city but I am bound here because I work here. Many will say 'just leave' or to paraphrase Daley, 'if its good enough to work here its good enough to live here'. That may be true, but who can afford it? I, like many in my ward, are public servants. This city and county have not learned from past mistakes. When they raised the cigarette taxes so high, people simply stopped buying them in Chicago, or Cook County, and much money was lost. Now, the predicted sales tax revenue is not even close to reality because anyone with any sense has left the county to purchase big ticket items. The only way they really got us is cars, but lo and behold, aint no cars selling these days! Township government is antiquated and should be done away with, along with other antiquated "jobs for cronies" like mosquito abatement districts. Government should be transparent, and that is what I propose to do. I have nothing to hide, I don't owe anybody anything, I got my job by filling out an application, having the proper licensing, and waiting on a list like every other 'unconnected' person. I would be the epitome of a fresh start-a new deal, so to speak. Let's get some momentum behind this thing. Now is the time to start-2011 will be here before we know it!
